An evening of Real Ale...

This Tuesday evening the husband and I met an old friend of mine in Marlow.  He had invited us to a member's evening at the Rebellion Beer Company a small, independent brewery.

The brewery forms part of Bencombe Farm which is a working farm, on the edge of the Chilterns.  Apparently the chalky hills mean that the water is high in salts and minerals and excellent for brewing with!

We were invited as guests on the member's evening, which includes free beer, but they also offer an open evening for £10 which includes 5 pints - seems like pretty good value to me!

You stand either in the brewery yard or in the old barn that now forms the shop.  There is a bar and firkins dotted around so you can top yourself up throughout the evening.  They open at 7.30 and kick you out at 9.30 so for perfect for me!  Not too long, not too short!  A barbecue offers burgers and sausages - ideal for soaking up the ale!

The only downside was getting up for work the next day!
