Goodness me it's been a while since I wrote anything on my poor blog. Two whole months in fact. And so much has happened, I hardly know where to start, so I shall start at the beginning.
When last we spoke I was just back from part one of my summer holiday and about to embark on part two. The second weekend of our holiday took us to Italy. To Rome and then Tuscany.
We only had one full day in Rome and decided to try and fit in as much as we could. Our hotel was to the north-west of the city and was simply lovely. We stayed at the Palm Gallery Hotel, a lovely private residence turned hotel. Super staff, prosecco on arrival and very smart bedrooms. The hotel was near to the Villa Borghese and we began our day with a walk through the park, arriving on the opposite side right next to Piazza del Popolo. From there we walked on to Piazza Navona, heading south through the Campo dei Fiori and into Piazza Farnese. We crossed over Ponte Sisto and climbed Gianicolo Hill. This left us in Trastevere where we wandered around exploring. It was an excellent route to take as we saw so much of the city without feeling like we were checking things off a list.
On the way we took in the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum and the Forum. There are still so many things to see and I can't wait to do back.
